  • whose color is it now ?

now that patrick hadan has decided to become the athletic director at his old school, who will do the color work with tom hammond ?    my suggestion is to ask hammond to leave and bring in tony roberts with a guest celebrity color for each home game this season..... sort of like the old jack parr program of the 50's & early 60's.   use an nfl celeb or some of the old retired notre dame players from across the country and bring a different kind of broadcast to the old peacock......Undecided

  • Blue & Gold colors please!

Great idea dal!  Tony Roberts and the late-great Tom Pagna will always be the voice of Notre Dame Football in my ears.  I wouldn’t even mind seeing ND graduate Don Criqui calling the games.  He does a great job on the radio end of things and has a passion, obviously, for Notre Dame.  I always enjoyed Pat Hayden, even though he played for the enemy.  He truly has a special place in his heart for the Irish and was very engrossed in football in South Bend.  Hammond on the other hand comes off as way too unbiased for my taste, even giving ND’s opponent a bit more oomph during the broadcast.  I understand NBC wants their Notre Dame crew to be as neutral as possible, but come on, you either watch the Irish because you love them, or because you want to root for the team they are playing.  A little splash of partiality would make for an even better experience for us Irish fans during home games at the House that Rockne built.

Yeah...I hope they take this chance ot get rid of Tom Hammond also. Haden was actually the better of the two.

I vote they bring in JOHN MADDEN! lol

  • looks as if hammond will be staying.....

but, read an article that named a few other candidates for the other seat..... dan fouts, aaron taylor, mike golic of course, and cris collinsworth.   my vote  would be taylor, he has no offspring playing at the university as golic or collinsworth---he understands the aura of notre dame and i believe he could bring a sensible bias to the booth.     as for dan fouts, his pac ten bias along with the "keith jackson love" of that conference makes me think it would not be a good fit-- also i think fouts becomes the natural to the setting of the pac ten since his college playing days are rooted there.   who knows,  dr. lou could even make an appearance.....although it's not in his "bucket list" of the 107 things to get done before departure.   i would think the annoucement would be imminent.....

  • Play by Play and Color

I would like to see Dan Shulman or Bob Costas take the Play by Play.  I would like to see someone like Dan Patrick take the Color assignment.  I would prefer someone that is a professional color announcer.  Anyone remember the likes of Merlin Olsen, Don Meredith, John Madden,  Alex Karras or Dan Dierdorf?  These guys all had great personality.  Madden might do it because it is just 7 or 8 games rather than 16 NFL games.   I'm just saying that NBC needs to give people a reason to tune in to a broadcast.  I remember watching MNF just to watch Meriedith and Cosell enteract.   NBC should hire some people with real pizzazz.  The ratings would go up with some "big names".

  • would that be kinda like......

tuning onto a cubs game to watch baseball ?   ( that in itself is a circus.....over a hundred years of mediocrity ---with a bartman amendment and a goat )

ok, so we get to hear dandy don meredith sing...."turn out the lights at the little house on the prairie"   ------ and dierdorf would be interested in only the michigan / irish matchup.....nothing more.     come up with a combination like that and i will assure you that 70% of additional viewers would simply turn up the stereo / radio and listen to criqui & pinkett on the westwood one broadcast like i usually do......  sorry cubsfan, that's more a crash and burn.....Laughing
